This Creamy Garlic Chicken Bake with Mozzarella is a rich, comforting dish made with tender chicken breasts smothered in a homemade garlic cream sauce and topped with golden melted cheese. Perfect for busy nights or easy weekend dinners.
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 pounds)
6 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Pat chicken breasts dry and season both sides with salt, pepper, and half of the Italian seasoning.
3. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the chicken for 3–4 minutes per side until lightly browned. Transfer to a baking dish.
4. In the same skillet, sauté minced garlic for 1 minute. Add heavy cream, chicken broth, and remaining Italian seasoning. Simmer for 2 minutes.
5. Pour sauce over the chicken in the baking dish. Top evenly with shredded mozzarella.
6. Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 165°F and cheese is bubbly and golden.
7. Remove from oven and let rest 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve.
Notes
You can substitute chicken thighs for a juicier option.
Add mushrooms or spinach to the sauce for variety.
If using half-and-half instead of cream, thicken the sauce slightly with a teaspoon of cornstarch.
Leftovers store well in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat beautifully.
