Crispy, sweet, and savory, these honey garlic chicken wonton tacos are quick to make and perfect as a weeknight dinner or party appetizer.
Ingredients
2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
3 tablespoons honey
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (optional)
12 wonton wrappers
1 cup coleslaw mix (green and purple cabbage with carrots)
2 tablespoons mayonnaise or Greek yogurt
1 teaspoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons chopped green onions
1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
Nonstick cooking spray or oil for baking
Instructions
1. In a bowl, mix coleslaw mix, mayo or yogurt, rice vinegar, and sugar. Chill in fridge.
2. Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly spray muffin tin. Press one wonton wrapper into each cup. Bake 7–8 minutes until golden and crisp.
3. In a saucepan, heat sesame oil. Add garlic and cook 30 seconds. Stir in soy sauce, honey, and vinegar. Simmer. Add cornstarch slurry to thicken, if desired.
4. Add shredded chicken to the pan. Toss to coat and warm through.
5. Fill each shell with about 2 tablespoons of chicken. Top with slaw, green onions, and sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
Notes
Make the slaw and chicken in advance for faster assembly.
Wonton shells are best filled just before serving to avoid sogginess.
Great with fried rice or a cucumber salad on the side.
