Creamy Mushroom Chicken Noodle Bake with tender chicken, egg noodles, and a rich mushroom cream sauce baked until warm and satisfying.
Ingredients
2 cups cooked chicken
12 oz egg noodles
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp olive oil
2 cups mushrooms
1 small onion
3 garlic cloves
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 cup cheese
1 tsp thyme
salt and pepper
Instructions
1. Cook egg noodles in salted water until just tender, then drain and set aside without overcooking
2. Heat butter and oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook mushrooms for 5–7 minutes until they release moisture and begin to brown
3. Add onion and cook until soft, then stir in garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant
4. Pour in chicken broth and stir while scraping the pan to lift flavor from the bottom
5. Add cream of mushroom soup and heavy cream, stirring until smooth and slightly thickened
6. Mix in chicken and cooked noodles until everything is evenly coated in sauce
7. Transfer to a baking dish, top with cheese, and bake at 375°F for 20–25 minutes until hot and lightly golden on top
8. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving so the sauce sets properly
Notes
Browning the mushrooms properly adds depth and improves the final flavor
If the mixture looks too thick before baking, add a splash of broth to keep it creamy
Avoid overbaking, as it can dry out the sauce and change the texture
Reheat gently with added liquid to bring back the creamy consistency
